Postdoctoral fellow and PhD positions in Wireless System Research Group@McMaster University

The Wireless System Research Group (WiSeR) (https://wiser.cas.mcmaster.ca) at the McMaster University, Canada is a top tier research lab conducting cutting-edge research in mobile computing led by Dr. Rong Zheng (http://www.cas.mcmaster.ca/~rzheng/). Over the past 8 years, our lab has published extensively in top tier conferences and journals, and has secured over $5,200,000 (CAD) federal and provincial research funding. We currently have two openings:

1.     Postdoctoral fellow in mobile health

The candidate will be responsible for leading research efforts in multimodal sensing for human activity monitoring and assessment. The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment with interactions with industrial partners and researchers from diversity disciplines such as health science, psychology, biomedical engineering, and kinesiology. The candidate will be also responsible for coordinating a multi-university training program on healthy aging (https://smap.cas.mcmaster.ca).

Qualification:

–        PhD degree from Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields from reputable academic programs

–        Research experiences in sensing, signal processing and machine learning

–        At least one first-author publication in rank A conferences (http://www.conferenceranks.com).

–        Good communication and writing skills in English

–        Experiences in machine learning and experimental platforms are a plus. 

Compensation:

–        $60,000+ CAD/yr

–        The position is renewable after one year depending on performance and funding availability

2.     PhD position in acoustic sensing

Qualification:

–        Bachelor’s and MS degrees from Electrical and Computer Engineering and mechatronics engineering or related fields from top 150 universities (Times High Education)

–        Prior research experiences in signal processing

–        Strong math background

–        Good communication and writing skills in English

–        Experiences in Python, machine learning and mobile phone programming are a plus.
